Do you have an autumn wreath that is in desperate need for an update? If so, then you’ve got to see my easy fall porch wreath update!
I purchased a plain leaf wreath from Michael’s a couple of years ago and originally used it with some pretty plaid ribbon weaving through the autumn leaves.
I decided I wanted to use my fall wreath again this year, but it needed a major refresh before hanging it on my front porch door.
Let me show you just how easy it is to update a plain wreath and give it amazing personality!

LEARN HOW TO CREATE AN EASY FALL PORCH WREATH UPDATE:
My wreath update idea is incredibly easy to do, just like it was for my spring floral wreath, and only required a purchase of 3 floral bunches.
Two bunches were a mixture of flowers and greenery, and the third was a bunch with berries and greenery. I added a few smaller flowers that came from my own flower stash.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- fall leaf wreath
- 2 floral bushes with flowers and greenery
- 1 floral bush with berries and greenery
- small fall flowers
- scissors or snips
- floral wire for hanger
The picture below shows you just how plain the wreath looked before I added some personality. Pitiful looking and boring, isn’t it?

I chose 3 floral and berry bunches that provided a good variety of stem sizes, different shades of fall colors, and also greenery.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING A FALL FRONT PORCH WREATH:
STEP 1: PREPARE THE FLOWER AND BERRY STEMS
Cut the individual flower and berry stems off the bushes at the base.
Make like piles of each flower, greenery, and berry stems.
Push up the greenery on each stem so that it’s under each flower and berry.

STEP 2: BEGIN THE FLORAL AND BERRY STEM PLACEMENT
No hot glue is needed, just stick each stem in the grapevine base. Poke the stem around until it feels like it’s secure.
Start with the larger flowers first and vary the placement around the wreath.
Next, choose the largest stems left in the like piles and place those.
Work your way down to the smallest like piles, and again, vary the placement.
Attach a piece of wire around the wreath for hanging and you’re all done.

Wasn’t my fall porch wreath update so quick and easy? I hope I’ve inspired you to take one of your own wreaths that needs refreshing and give it some new personality!
