Since the spooky season is right around the corner, I’ve got a DIY Halloween sign craft idea with BOO ghosts for you to create.
These little ghouls are far from scary with their adorable little polka dot eyes. I think you’ll enjoy making this fun project for whimsical Halloween decor.
This sign craft idea is a perfect one to add to your “easy Halloween crafts” list. With some simple painting and glueing on scrapbook paper you’ll be done in no time.
You can add my cute Dollar Tree Halloween picture frame to that easy craft list, too.

HOW TO MAKE A DIY HALLOWEEN SIGN CRAFT WITH BOO GHOSTS
STEP 1 – PAINT THE WOOD SIGN
I always paint a white base coat on unfinished wood to make colors pop more. Since my wood plaque has beveled edges, I decided to make each edge a different color ~ orange, purple and black. You’ll need to paint 2 to 3 coats.
STEP 2 – MEASURE AND CUT SCRAPBOOK PAPER
Measure your sign and use those measurements to determine the sizes of your scrapbook paper strips. Using 3 paper designs you just divide the space by three.
STEP 3 – GLUE THE PAPER ONTO THE SIGN
Brush a light coat of Mod Podge all over making sure to get the edges of where you’ll be placing the pieces of scrapbook paper. Place plastic wrap on top of the paper and smooth out paper with your fingers.

STEP 4 – PREPARE THE BOO GHOSTS
Paint each ghost shape with 3 coats of white paint. Make sure to paint the edges, also. Let dry completely.
Cut one of your paper designs into small squares. Apply Mod Podge on the back of each ghosts and press the paper into place.
For making the “BOO” letters you have different options. I used a stencil sheet to transfer my letters, but you can use alphabet stickers, wood letters, or letter stamps.
The final look of the banner ghost.
STEP 5 – ADD HALLOWEEN SIGN CRAFT EMBELLISHMENTS
Weave the baker’s twine through each ghost hole leaving enough length to allow the string be loose and wavy as seen in photo below.
Arrange the ghosts on the sign, waving the baker’s twine. Let the ghosts overlap both sides.
Lift up each ghost, add hot glue to the paper, press ghost down. Add dabs of glue at the top corners and stick down twine and a tiny button. (I found my polka dot buttons at Hobby Lobby.)
Well, what do you think about my Halloween sign craft idea? Isn’t that BOO ghost banner adorable!
