Are you having a hard time finding cute Halloween photo frames? I’m going to show you how easy it is to make this dollar store Halloween picture frame using straws. You won’t believe how quick and inexpensive this Halloween craft is to make!
DOLLAR STORE HALLOWEEN PICTURE FRAME
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- unfinished wood craft frame ~ Michael’s $1.00
- 2 packages black and orange straws ~ Dollar General $1.00/pack
- glue gun
- black craft paint
- scissors
- foam paint brush
HOW TO DECORATE A PICTURE FRAME FOR HALLOWEEN
STEP 1 – PAINT THE HALLOWEEN PICTURE FRAME:
Use a foam paint brush to paint the entire frame. To speed up the drying time, you can use a hair dryer or a heat gun.
STEP 2 – PREPARE THE FIRST ROW OF STRAWS:
Determine how much needs to be cut off the straws for the outer and inner rows. See picture below to observe how the straws are butted to each other.
Run a bead of hot glue down the entire straw and attach to picture frame.
STEP 3 – CONTINUE CUTTING AND ATTACHING THE STRAWS:
I chose to make my picture frame look like the corners are mitered like real frames. Below, you can see the pattern that I kept using for each row of the square.
Cut and attach the straws going in the exact same direction for each row and square that’s made. I continued in a clockwise direction.
TIP: Carefully place the straw down in place when glueing because if the glue touches the top of another straw it will totally mess up the other straw and it will need to be replaced.
I hope you’ll enjoy making this dollar store Halloween picture frame. Just imagine other possible color combinations you can use to make photo frames for other seasons or holidays!
