HOW TO PAINT YOUR OWN FRAME FOR THE IRISH FREE PRINTABLE

My “Luck of the Irish” free printable is the second of the DIY St. Patrick’s Day decorations. For this print I decided to try a different look by using a gold frame instead of a black frame to give a nod to a pot of gold.

I didn’t have an 8×10 frame on hand to use for this Irish free printable so I went to the Dollar Tree to see what they had to offer. They were sold out of the gold. Wasn’t this supposed to be a quick and easy holiday home decor?

Off to the next store! I ended up having to go to Walmart, and of course, they were no gold frames in sight. What?

I had no plan B so I did a little brainstorming and ended up grabbing a black frame and a bottle of Apple Barrel craft paint in Kings Gold. Frames that would have been easier to hold the paint were too expensive so I went with the black one.

Painting the frame was a fun way to make a bold and whimsical statement for St. Patrick’s Day.

Lightly sand the frame so the paint will adhere better. I painted 3 coats of the gold craft paint for complete coverage. Now, you’ve got fun holiday home decor!

PRINTING TIPS FOR THE FREE PRINTABLE DECOR

For best results, I suggest printing on 110 lb. card stock using a laser printer.

LASER PRINTER COMPARED TO HOME PRINTER

Having an office supply store service use their laser printer will show the printable colors more vibrant and crisp versus from your home computer.

If you choose to use your home printer, the colors will be softer and lighter than the actual printable shows.
